Minimally Invasive Gynecological Procedures

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, performed when a patient is suffering from noncancerous uterine fibroids or from endometriosis. In the past, hysterectomies involved a large abdominal incision, a 6- to 12-inch scar, and weeks of recovery. But now, thanks to robotics, a hysterectomy can be performed with nominal incisions and scarring.

Myomectomy

With their precision and accuracy, robotic instruments are great for performing myomectomies – the removal of uterine fibroids – while preserving the uterus for possible future pregnancies.

Sacrocolpopexy

Sacrocolpopexy is a procedure that corrects prolapse – displacement of the uterus due to aging, childbirth, weight gain or heavy physical labor. This procedure also helps correct such side effects as incontinence and sexual dysfunction.

All these robotic gynecological procedures mean less pain and scarring, less blood loss, a shorter recovery period, and a quicker return to normal activities.
