Memorial Hospital Pembroke’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Services
High-Quality Care in a Compassionate Setting
Customized Services
Memorial Hospital Pembroke’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Department provides every patient with individualized attention. Our multidisciplinary team of specialists first conducts a comprehensive assessment of a patient’s existing circumstances and challenges, including his or her age, overall health, and home and work responsibilities. With this information, the team designs an individualized rehabilitation program that addresses the patient’s unique needs. Continuous monitoring helps ensure that patients are healing properly and reaching full functional independence.
Our therapists work one-on-one with patients in individual treatment rooms to ensure privacy and continuity of care.
Specialized Therapy Programs
Occupational Therapy
Our team evaluates neurological, orthopedic and other medical disabilities and the factors preventing maximum independence at home and work. We address issues related to surgery, injury and occupational conditions, such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Treatment plans are based on the evaluation of functional impairments and utilize therapeutic modalities, such as thermal therapy, exercise and splinting. Our goal is to help patients re-learn essential self-care skills and master the use of adaptive techniques and devices.
Physical Therapy
We identify, correct and alleviate acute or prolonged musculoskeletal or neurological conditions, including spinal disorders and broken bones. Treatment focuses on maximizing strength and flexibility, and includes a variety of techniques to increase functional independence.
Speech Therapy
Our therapists address speech and/or language disorders and delays, as well as swallowing disorders, voice impairment and cognitive dysfunction following head injury or stroke. Leading-edge equipment is used to provide immediate feedback and enhance progress, including some of the latest technologies to treat swallowing disorders.
Lymphedema Therapy
We evaluate and address abnormal swelling in any part of the patient’s body, face or extremity that results from an injury, trauma or surgical procedure. We strive to bring our patients back to optimal function by using manual techniques, compression devices, bandaging and functional exercises. These treatments decrease the girth and alleviate the painful symptoms.
Pelvic Rehabilitation
Our team of medical professionals evaluates and addresses continence and pelvic pain while improving muscle strength and pelvic muscle function using biofeedback, therapeutic exercises and manual techniques.
