Radiology and Imaging Services
Board-certified radiologists in the Memorial Hospital Pembroke Radiology and Imaging Services Department perform diagnostic, therapeutic and noninvasive imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound and nuclear medicine.
Our Radiology and Imaging Services
X-ray
X-rays are performed using electromagnetic radiation to produce images of the structure of hands, feet, back and spine, chest and abdomen.
Mammography (screening)
Women age 40 and older are encouraged to have screening mammograms every 1 to 2 years, to help detect cancer and other abnormalities of the breast.
Bone Density Scan
Postmenopausal women age 65 and older — as well as women under 65 with certain conditions, such as a family history of osteoporosis — are urged to have this low-dose X-ray to help spot bone thinning and mineral loss.
CT Scan
Also called a CAT scan, computed tomography produces cross-sectional images of the body. Some scans require the injection of a special dye to create a clearer image.
Your physician may give you a prescription for a CT scan based on clinical findings. Memorial Hospital Pembroke Radiology and Imaging Services can complete your scan and return the results to your doctor for follow-up.
MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging technology uses powerful magnets and radio waves to produce images that can be stored on a computer or printed on film.
Your physician may give you a prescription for an MRI based on clinical findings. Memorial Hospital Pembroke Radiology and Imaging Services can complete your MRI and return the results to your doctor for follow-up.
Nuclear Medicine
In nuclear medicine, small amounts of radioactive material are used to perform noninvasive and usually painless imaging procedures to diagnose medical conditions.
Ultrasound
Also known as a sonogram, ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to show organs and systems in the body.
